- Engagement Models

Three engagement models.
One standard of delivery.

Pick the shape of engagement that fits the work; the standard of delivery doesn't change.

01 / FIXED-FEE SOW

Fixed-Fee SOW

Scoped delivery against a defined Statement of Work. Fixed price, fixed timeline, agreed deliverables. Best when the outcome is well understood and the work can be priced up front.

02 / RETAINER

Retainer

Monthly capacity for advisory or steady delivery. Predictable spend, reserved bandwidth, advisory access between active projects. Best when the road ahead is multi-quarter and priorities will shift.

03 / EMBEDDED

Embedded

Senior architect operating inside the client's team for the duration of the engagement. Full integration with internal rituals, code review, and on-call rotation. Best when ramp-up time matters.

- How an engagement starts
  1. 01

    Discovery call

A 30-minute call to understand the problem, the team, the constraints, and whether an engagement is the right answer. No commitment on either side.

  2. 02

    Scope doc

A short written scope: outcomes, boundaries, assumptions, and the engagement model that fits. Reviewed together so there are no surprises later.

  3. 03

    MSA + SOW

Master Services Agreement plus a per-engagement Statement of Work. Plain language, signed by both sides. Insurance and confidentiality covered up front.

  4. 04

    Kickoff

Working session to align on milestones, communication cadence, access, and decision rights. The team meets the architect; questions get answered before code.

  5. 05

    Delivery

Iterative delivery against the agreed scope. Weekly written status, demos at milestone gates, async-first communication. Changes go through a light scope-change protocol.

  6. 06

    Handoff

Documentation, architecture decision records, and a knowledge-transfer session with the team that will own the work. Optional retainer follows for steady-state support.
